What do Compliance Professionals do for fun? |
|
I know that working with HMDA, CRA, Fair Lending, etc... is not the most glamorous job that one can have. I can think of a few that might be a bit more glamorous, like Actor, Rock Star, Rocket Scientist... you get the point. So as we get into our submission season, I would like to find out what all of you do to relax and wind down. Let me know what your favorite non-compliance activities are! Sometimes it is nice to just have a fun topic to go off on to get to know our fellow members. For instance, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 4 year old daughter. It is fun to act like a four year old in an enviroment where it looks normal. I play lead guitar in a Pink Floyd cover band. I have been playing music since I was twelve. I can play guitar, drums, bass, keyboards and a little sax. I enjoy playing and watching sports. I am a die hard Redskin fan and can usually be found at an actual Redskin game or my favorite Redskin Bar on game day. Depending on how good the team does I could be a face painter! I am still practicing towards becoming a professional poker player also. One of my goals is to win the World Series of Poker in the next 3-5 years. Wish me luck. And finally I enjoy working out. I have been having a hard time getting to the gym the last couple of months, but I need to pick it up again. Spring is right around the corner for Floridians! Anyway, I look forwatd to seeing all of your posts on this subject. Happy HMDA! That is great John. I knew there was a good reason I liked you. I have been a die hard fan of Pink Floyd as long as I can remember. For fun I enjoy playing my guitar as loud as possible - until my wife puts a stop to it. I usually play it toned down quite a lot at church. Otherwise I enjoy time with all my kids. I especially like playing card games and board games. We also enjoy the Stooges - we all have our own lines - why I oughta.... My wife and I enjoy movies on DVD - so I can play back the best parts over and over. The gym is also a great place to be, I try to get there once a week at least - I know I should be there more often also. Otherwise just relaxing with a cup of coffee and some good conversations with wife and kids does it for me. Is it just me or is there a common trend here - I too have been a fan of Pink Floyd for many years! I also try and get to the gym as often as I can, which unfortunately is not often enough. Being in Florida also affords the opportunity of spending time outdoors - bike rides to the beach or just chilling by the pool....and of course still trying to get my household back together after the big blow! Just got married in October, so I still enjoy spending time with my wife (LOL) - and we both enjoy watching movies and/or TV (have gotten into "Lost" - thankfully blockbuster carries the first season on DVD!). Haven't done it in awhile, but I also enjoy a cold beer over a good game of pool - great for forgetting one woes! Whatever it takes to stay sane whilst the world around you goes off the deep end! Points John in the right direction http://www.thecomplianceforum.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=1 [:D] And I also have not been a Pink Floyd fan for years....oh wait never mind [}:)] What to do to relax and wind down - ideally nothing, but hey that never happens!! Instead I opt for tropical vacations filled with lots of sun, snorkeling and plenty of frosty beverages - hot spots lately include St Maarten, Hawaii and Cancun - before it was blown away [:D] Of course vacations are the highlights - on a daily basis life isn't so glamorous - the gym is a must do - a minimum of 5 days a week - it's a major stress relief! I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, skiing (we go to Mammoth often), hiking, house-boating (Lake Mead) and watching sports - GO BRONCOS (too bad they forgot to show up for the last game!) and yes, listening to music - mostly old rock and once in a while some good jazz. No, I don't like Pink what's him name - just kidding John [^] Pull weeds - it's perfect. The pent up frustration is relieved on another problem so I accomplish two relief points at once. Otherwise, if the day is perfect we head to the snow for some skiing or some hiking in the foothills of California where I live. [^] If its above 60 outside, we bundle up, take the top down on the car and cruise to Monterey or San Francisco for the day. Who is Pink Floyd? He must be a little before my time. I enjoy playing golf, watching any sport on tv (except nascar) and spending time with my wife and son. I guess some of my free time will now be spent researching who this Pink Floyd guy is. |
