MSA Information
Can someone provide me with a piece of mind? If a county is included in a MSA, then the entire county will be included and will not be divided...correct? I appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks.
Since the 2004 Reporting Year, your statement is correct. Effective with the 2004 reporting year and the reallignment of MSA/MD boundaries there are no cases presently where a county is divided amongst 2 or more MSA/MD's. This was not always the case however, for 2003 and earlier reporting, there were numerous cases where not only counties were split amonst more that one MSA or NA area, but census tracts as well. This made for very tricky geocoding of addresses in those areas.
